About the Artist

Gabe Morton-Cook (b 1982) is a self-taught visual artist based in Binghamton, New York. In addition to his exhibitions at the Cooperative Gallery, his work has been featured in juried group exhibitions such as the Southern Tier Biennial.

I am interested in art as a bridge.

I paint geometric compositions that explore with intention along the spectrum of representation and abstraction. The application of visual principles of perspective evoke a sense of place and space within the spontaneity of more intuitive, bold techniques of expression and mark making.

The result is an analog artwork with visual characteristics of computer-generated imagery. In the societal and personal context of technological over-saturation, my images may serve as an invitation to a conversation about broader themes of perception and truth. My attention is currently on humanity’s position at the threshold of the “natural” world.
